International Conference on Orientalism — first edition · Doha, Qatar · 26.04.2025
Prof. Mahmoud Al-Hamza chaired the scientific committee of the first International Conference on Orientalism, held in Doha on 26–27 April 2025 with more than 300 researchers from some 50 countries.
The conference was organised by the Ministry of Education and Higher Education and the QatarDebate Center (Qatar Foundation), in partnership with the Permanent Committee for Organising Conferences of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and in cooperation with Qatar University, Hamad Bin Khalifa University and the Doha Institute for Graduate Studies, together with international institutions including Leiden University (Netherlands), the Center for Advanced Studies in Sarajevo and Dagestan State University.
The keynote speech was delivered by the French scholar and politician Dr François Burgat.
